How to Verify VAT Setup on Navigator

Before using the Making Tax Digital (MTD) platform in Navigator, it is crucial to verify that each branch is configured with the correct VAT Registration Number. This ensures compliance with HMRC requirements and prevents errors when submitting VAT returns.


Steps to Verify VAT Setup

1. Access Branch Setup

  1. Navigate to:
    Setup > Branch Setup.

  2. Locate the company and branch you wish to verify.


2. Update VAT Registration Number

  1. Click Update next to the Company Number to open the branch details form.

  2. Check the VAT No field in the displayed form:

    • Ensure the VAT Registration Number is correct.
    • If incorrect, update the VAT No field and click Close to save changes.

Important Notes

  • Processing Time for Changes:

    • Changes to the VAT Registration Number are actioned overnight.
    • If immediate changes are needed to continue processing a VAT return, contact the Navigator Helpdesk for assistance.
  • Branch-Specific VAT Numbers:

    • Ensure each branch has its unique VAT Registration Number if applicable.
